Cathy Rumfelt, better known around Athens as Miss Cathy, has always had music in her life. She started singing and playing the piano at a young age, attended music camp for many years, performed in musical theater productions throughout high school and college.
In 2014, Cathy moved to Athens and opened Allegro: Lively Music for Children, offering infant and preschool music & movement classes to children in Athens and surrounding areas. Since then she has been teaching music classes to hundreds of local families.
In 2021, along with two partners, she opened The Studio Athens, a performing arts studio that offers dance for adults and youth, and youth musical theatre. Cathy directs the youth musical theatre program, which provides theater education and performance opportunities for aspiring performers ages 4-15.
Cathy also enjoys performing around town and has performed with Athens Creative Theatre and Gown. She also performs with The Modern Pin-ups, one of the adult dance companies at The Studio Athens.
Cathy holds a bachelor’s degree in English Education from University of Georgia, and her master’s degree in English from Georgia State University and has more than 20 years of experience as an educator. From 2000-2011, she taught English and Technical Theatre at Centennial High School in Roswell, Georgia, where she was awarded Teacher of the Year.
