Jennifer Keene is a fledgling photographer with an interest in all things taphophile. Her monochromatic images highlight funerary art, cemetery symbolism, ghostly tales and colorful regional history.

Her photographs have been showcased locally in Athens at numerous locations including Dondero’s Kitchen and The Rook & Pawn as well as the Oconee County Public Library.

In addition to her own guides and forthcoming book, she writes for various publications and zines, including a number of cemetery-related articles for Flagpole Magazine.

Keene has linear interests in the study of Floriography [the Victorian Era secret language of flowers] and vintage floral design, and has taught classes on that subject as well as others in the funerary art fields.

She is currently open to co-hosting events and working with nonprofits. She also offers cemetery and history tours, grave cleaning instruction and genealogy classes (cemeteries are not just for Halloween!) as a way of broadening her already wide experience with community engagement, public art events and varied professional development.
