Oh, hey. I’m Meg Schreiber Brownstone and I’m an artist. I received a BFA in Painting from Northern Arizona University in 2006. Soon thereafter I came to Athens to visit a friend and have been living here ever since. My primary reasons for making art are 1. to chronicle my personal journey 2. to connect with people 3. to enrich my experience of life. I’ve always been compelled to make self portraits, and I’m learning, now, to accept this about myself (haha). For me visual art is an attempt to answer the questions: who am I? and how should I live? without words. I specialize in drawing/painting humans, animals, plants and objects in a variety of contexts, styles, and mediums. I have experience with creating commissioned work, and am interested in collaboration. I currently serve as the Grants Chair for the Athens Area Arts Council. You may also know me as a yoga teacher. I have a dream to one day create a full-scale carousel where each animal figure has been designed by a local Athens artists. If you are interested in this project and have a skill that can help me make it happen, please reach out.
