Originally from Atlanta, William Emde is currently studying composition at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music in Athens, Georgia. He studies trombone under Dr. Joshua Bynum, and plays in groups ranging from wind ensembles to contemporary chamber ensembles, along with playing in the local music scene of Athens, Georgia. William studies composition under Dr. Emily Koh. Outside of the school of music, He is a board member of the Student Composers Association, and is a member of the International Trombone Association and ASCAP. His music has been performed internationally, and ranges from orchestral, to electronic, to chamber music. Most recently his work has been focused on solo trombone and electronics, seeking to mesh the two worlds together.
