Jon Hobus started blacksmithing in 2015 with a friend from high school. Since then, the idea of making metal into art has fascinated him. He graduated in welding from North Georgia Technical College in 2018 and has been doing mainly welding jobs since then, putting his artistic side on the back burner. He dreamt of the day he could pursue the creative desire. Then, in January of 2025, he left his job to craft metallic sculptures full time. Now he spends his weekdays in his backyard studio, forging, welding, smelting, and making chainmail. His weekends go toward selling his wares at craft shows and farmers markets. Jon loves what he does and can’t wait to see where the future takes him and his skills!
