MORBID is a queer artist based in athens, georgia.
my work is influenced by horror, the early internet, and japanese subculture.
do you remember being a kid in the 2000s, scrolling on the family computer late at night, and seeing weird and obscure youtube videos, internet hoaxes, strange websites, and creepypastas? did you and your friends challenge each other to recite BLOODY MARY in the bathroom at sleepovers, or see who could watch the “cursed tape” from the ring without covering their eyes? did you spend hours watching Y2K anime for free on sketchy websites, staying up late to catch toonami reruns, and poring over scans of magazines like newtype, FRUITS, or gothic lolita bible? my work revolves around these experiences and the deep nostalgia for growing up weird, creepy, and online. i combine the cutesy, cheerful, and over-the-top pastels of magical girl anime with the unnerving and uncanny facets of horror movies. i love making homages to the creepypastas and horror movies i encountered as a teenager.

i work in mediums both digital and traditional, and most of my acrylic paintings are completed on canvas panel or wood. i also work in acrylic marker, colored pencil, and watercolor on illustration board. my digital work is typically made into prints or stickers, and i design paper goods such as notepads and journals.
