Klypi is AC Carter, the queer pop artist out of Athens, GA, who performs music that merges modern Ke$ha style pop with synthpop from the 80’s (think Cyndi Lauper or Bananarama). Touring the east coast in 2018 and 2019, they opened for artists Molly Nilsson, of Montreal, Algiers, John Maus, Jennifer Vanilla, Girlpool, and Shitkid, and performed at festivals such as Big Ears, Secret Stages, and Athens Popfest.
A 2020 University of Georgia MFA Fine Arts Graduate, Klypi runs Ad•verse, a musical festival which focuses attention on queer, trans, non-binary, and LGBTAI+ artists.
AC has also made sculptural garments for of Montreal’s music video “No Plateau Phase/ No Careerism, No Corruption” and Jennifer Vanilla’s performance at MoMA PS1. They have been featured in publications such as WUSSY Mag, PASTE, New American Painting, and TomTom Magazine, and have performed/ shown work at galleries such as Zeitgeist, bitforms, Chinatown Soup, and ZieherSmith.
Currently, Klypi is in the studio recording a full length album with trans producer Precious Child for release in late 2020, and is protesting for Black Lives Matter in their hometown. They have been accepted into the Vermont Studio Center Residency for 2021.
