My work centers on a sense of place, a theme on which I have exhibited in Paris, New York, Georgia, Mississippi, and central France. My métier is fine art on silk—hand painting on silk with fiber-reactive dyes. The colors are brilliant, the lines strong, and the technique allows me to imagine a new vision of our world to share with others.
I wholeheartedly believe in the mutually beneficial relationship between artists and the communities in which they work. As an artist intrigued by how spaces work together and how people inhabit and interact with these spaces, I spend my time traveling, observing, and sitting quietly, seeking to gather the essence of a place. I find beauty in the world around me and in the people who generously share their stories. Each of us has a unique narrative that captures our relationship with our environment, and I look forward to continuing my work with the Athens community.
Having created large installations for the Columbus Museum in Columbus, GA, the Ramsey Center at the University of Georgia, and the Heyward Allen Toyota offices in Athens, GA, I delight in creating place-based work large and small.
