Krysia (Krisha) is a local artist and native of Athens, Georgia who is inspired by nature and cultures around the world. In addition to making public art, she is also available for private commissions.
Her public art mosaics can be seen around downtown Athens, in Cobbham Triangle Park on Prince Avenue, and at the Alice H. Richards Childrens Garden at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. She developed her skills over many years in an ongoing attempt to bring exotic Central Asia to her little corner of the Deep South, adorning her home with mosaics and creating sculptures for her enchanted art garden.
Although she is resistant to labels and boxes, she has long specialized in mosaic art, a durable medium that aligns well with her passion for making public art. Mosaic is long-lasting when done right, but the work can be quite tedious, so she keeps the creative process interesting by working in completely different styles (and even better, multiple projects at a time).
She enjoys including handmade ceramic in some of her work, and is particularly enchanted by mirror in every color and texture she can find (unfortunately the best are far away in Italy). When it comes to technical knowledge, she loves to geek out, and learn from others as she can. The more you learn, the less you know!
